# Data limits and validation rules

The Product Catalog API validates both metadata and data values.

## Metadata validation

### Feed validation

### Attribute validation

| Attribute name pattern | `[a-zA-Z0-9_-]*` |
| Maximum attribute name length | 64 characters |
| Maximum display name length | 255 characters |

| Product ID / Variant ID / Style ID | Maximum 255 characters. |
| Title | Maximum 255 characters. |
| Description | Maximum 5000 characters. |
| Brand | Maximum 100 characters. |
| MPN | Maximum 70 characters. |
| GTIN | 8–14 digits. |
| Color | Maximum 40 characters. |
| Size | Maximum 100 characters. |
| Price / sales_price | Minimum value: 0.01. Maximum value: 9,999,999.99. Two decimal places. |
