# Activating Tracking Settings for a Group

## Goal

Enable tracking options for a group to measure message open rates and link clicks.

## Background Information

Tracking settings are configured at the group level. These settings apply to all messages sent to the group and determine which interactions are recorded for analysis.

You can activate the following tracking options:

- Opening tracking for HTML messages
- Link tracking for messages
- Tracking for system links

## Procedures

1. Navigate to *Audience > Group Management > Groups*.
2. Open the required group.
3. Open the **Settings** tab.
4. Activate the required tracking options as described in the following sections.
5. Click **Save**.

### Activating HTML Opening Tracking

Opening tracking measures whether a recipient opens an HTML message. This tracking uses a tracking pixel that is inserted into the message.

1. In the group **Settings**, enable **Opening tracking**.
2. Select the tracking pixel position:
  - **Header**
  - **Footer**
3. Click **Save**.

### Activating Link Tracking

Link tracking records clicks on links contained in messages sent to the group.

1. In the group **Settings**, enable **Link tracking**.
2. Select the link types to track:
  - HTML links
  - Text links
  - Personalized links
3. Click **Save**.

### Activating Tracking for System Links

System links are automatically generated links, such as unsubscribe or profile update links. Tracking these links allows you to analyze interactions with system-generated content.

1. In the Group **Settings**, enable **System Link Tracking**.
2. Click **Save**.
