# Add Entries to Group Blacklist

## Goal

Add email addresses, mobile numbers, or domains to a group-specific blacklist in Mapp Engage.

> [!WARNING]
> ⚠️ **Warning:** When a contact is placed on a group blacklist, **Mapp Engage deletes all group-related information**. This includes member attributes, group membership, and subscription data — permanently.

---

## Prerequisites

Your group-specific role or group-override system role must have the following permission: **505 Members: Edit group blacklist**

---

## Procedure

You can add entries to a group blacklist in one of the following ways:

---

### 1. Import Entries via File

Use this method to upload multiple entries from a prepared file into a specific group blacklist.

1. Go to *Audience > Blacklist > Group Blacklist.*
2. Select the desired group from the **Group** drop-down.
3. Click **Import**.
4. Choose your file and configure the import settings:
  - **File Type**: *Text* or *XML*
  - **List Type:***Clear-text*or*MD5*
  - **Character Set**: e.g., *UTF-8*
  - **Import Mode**:
    - *Add* – Add new entries to the existing group blacklist
    - *Replace* – Replace the entire group blacklist with the file
    - *Delete* – Remove listed entries from the group blacklist
5. Click **Import**.

The logged-in user who performs the import will receive a confirmation email with the import status.

---

### 2. Manually Add Entries

Use this method to manually add one or more entries via the user interface.

1. Go to *Audience > Blacklist > Group Blacklist*.
2. Select the desired group from the **Group** drop-down.
3. Click **Create**.
4. Select the **List Type**: *Clear-text*or*MD5*.
5. Enter one or more entries, each on a separate line:
  - Email
  - Mobile Number
  - Domain
6. Click **Save**.

A status message will confirm that the entries have been added to the group blacklist. You will also receive a confirmation email.

---

### 3. Blacklist a Group Member from the Contact Overview

Use this method to blacklist an existing member directly from the group’s contact list.

1. Go to *Audience > Contact Management > Group Members*.
2. Select the desired group from the **Group** drop-down and search for the contact.
3. Expand the context menu next to the contact and click **Blacklist**.
4. Review or adjust the *Email*, *Mobile Number*, or *Mobile App Alias*.
5. Click **Add to Group Blacklist**.

The selected contact will be added to the group blacklist.
