# Are Links from WhatsApp Tracked as Referrer?

For links in WhatsApp, no referrer can be tracked in Mapp Intelligence. When clicking a link in WhatsApp, an external browser opens and no further information is passed to Mapp Intelligence.

Such access is categorized as "direct" if it is the first page of a visit. If you provide WhatsApp sharing on your website, you should attach a mediacode. This way, access can be measured by means of campaign tracking.
