# Automate Handling of Deactivated Contacts

## Goal

Automatically reactivate or remove deactivated contacts after a defined number of days.

## Procedure

1. Navigate to *Audience > Groups*.
2. In the Actions column next to the desired group, click **Change Settings** (gear icon).
3. Open the **Deactivation** tab.
4. Expand the **Deactivation Handling** section.
5. For each response category, configure the handling rule:
  - Select whether to **Reactivate** or **Remove from Group**.
  - In **After Number of Days**, define the delay before the action is triggered.
6. (Optional) Enable **Reactivate System-wide Deactivated Contacts** to apply the reactivation beyond the current group.

This option is available only for supported response categories.
7. (Optional) Enable **Do Not Send Messages to System-wide Deactivated Contacts** to enforce stricter filtering during sendouts.
8. Click **Save** to apply the changes.

## Result

Deactivated contacts are automatically reactivated or removed based on the configured response category rules and delay period.
