# Basics

This section explains how messages are sent in Mapp Engage after you have created them: group and single messages, prepared and transactional messages, message categories, tags, and message limits. Most of these concepts apply to email and SMS messages.

In Mapp Engage, you find the related functions in the main menu under *Messages*, for example *Messages > Prepared Messages*, *Messages > Outbox*, and *Messages > Limitations*.
