Overview
The Compose Email Template page is where you define the structure and default configuration of an email template.
Templates determine the layout and reusable settings for email messages created from them.
For conceptual explanations of templates, components, and frameworks, refer to the System Basics documentation.
Navigation Path
Content > Email > Email Templates
You reach this page when creating a new template or editing an existing one.
Display Options
Use the icons in the upper-right corner to switch between views.
Preview (Eye icon)
Displays the template layout in desktop, tablet, and mobile previews.
Edit Monitor (Monitor icon)
Shows the template in visual edit mode with draggable components.
List View (List icon)
Displays all components in a structured list and allows reordering.
Information Panel
The Information Panel defines template-level settings. To open it, click the Information icon in the header area.
General
Type – Template type (cannot be changed).
Framework – Defines the framework on which the template is based.
Note
The framework cannot be changed after the template is saved. If you selected the wrong framework, create a new template.
Name – Internal template name.
Description – Optional internal description.
Textual fallback – Text-only version for recipients who cannot render HTML.
Group – Predefines the group for messages created from this template.
Message category – Predefines the category for messages.
Character Encoding – Defines how characters are encoded.
Image Handling – Defines how images are processed.
Advanced
Default Table Width – Defines the default layout width.
Default Background Color – Defines the template background color.
Settings defined here are inherited by email messages created from the template.
Visual Editor
Use the Visual Editor to define the template layout.
Content is structured in components. Only components with an unlocked status can be edited.
You can:
Edit content directly in components
Replace images and define alternative text
Insert links, personalizations, and variables
Reposition components using drag and drop
Comments
Components support internal comments for collaboration and editorial guidance.
Comments are not visible to recipients and do not affect the email output.
Components Tab
The Components tab provides the elements used to build the template layout.
Components are organized in categories.
Use the search field to locate a component. Drag a component onto the canvas to add it to the template.
Use the preview icon to view a component before inserting it.
Details Tab
The Details tab displays information about the selected component.
Use this tab to review or modify component-specific settings.
Code Tab
The Code tab displays the generated HTML of the complete template.
The HTML cannot be edited directly in this view. To modify structure or content, adjust the corresponding components.
