Content Engagement

Prev Next

The Content Engagement plugin helps you measure how intensely users engage with individual parts of your content — going far beyond traditional scroll tracking (e.g., using the Scroll Depth Plugin).

Instead of tracking entire pages, you can define specific content sections (e.g,. paragraphs, text blocks, or components). The plugin measures how long these elements remain visible in the browser viewport — adjusted for screen size — and tracks when users reach defined thresholds of visibility or reading time.

This results in much more precise and meaningful engagement data, especially for editorial or content-heavy pages.

How does it work?

Once the plugin is implemented:

  • Content elements are divided into 200 parts, each with its own timer.

  • You can configure it when engagement data is sent, e.g.,

    • when a user scrolls through a defined percentage,

    • after a defined time per screen size,

    • or when the user leaves the page.

  • Optional: You can track extended content (e.g. loaded via “Read more” button) as a separate engagement element.

Note

The plugin does not support mobile apps or infinite scroll pages.
