Instead of tracking entire pages, you can define specific content sections (e.g,. paragraphs, text blocks, or components). The plugin measures how long these elements remain visible in the browser viewport — adjusted for screen size — and tracks when users reach defined thresholds of visibility or reading time. ![](https://cdn.document360.io/554b9b98-6720-4d8b-9919-c7b203d72648/Images/Documentation/1fbe91b2-098e-4b5f-80b5-dd8627f0be3b.png) This results in much more precise and meaningful engagement data, especially for editorial or content-heavy pages. --- ## How does it work? Once the plugin is implemented: - Content elements are divided into 200 parts, each with its own timer. - You can configure it when engagement data is sent, e.g., - when a user scrolls through a defined percentage, - after a defined time per screen size, - or when the user leaves the page. - Optional: You can track extended content (e.g. loaded via “Read more” button) as a separate engagement element. > [!WARNING] > Note > > The plugin does not support mobile apps or infinite scroll pages. --- ## What This Documentation Covers This guide shows you how to configure and implement the Content Engagement plugin. You’ll learn: - What technical requirements must be met - How to define event parameters in Mapp Intelligence - How to configure and activate the plugin for different integration methods - How to initialize content elements for tracking - How to validate your setup and interpret the results
