Create, Edit, or Delete Enumeration

Goal

To create or delete an enumeration, and to add or delete the possible values that can be saved in the enumerated attribute.

Prerequisites

A custom attribute exists in the system.

General Information

Thanks to enumeration, you can use attribute values more efficiently. When you create an enumeration for an attribute, Engage makes its values available in other parts of the system. For example, the values of an enumerated attribute appear as a drop-down list in the Segmentation Builder.

• It is not possible to enumerate a standard attribute.

• It is not possible to enumerate a profile attribute that uses the Boolean data type.

• An attribute can have up to 1,000 different enumerated values.

Procedures

Create an Enumeration

1. In the ​main navigation​, click ​Administration​ > ​Attributes​. The ​Attribute Management​ window opens.

2. In the ​Actions​ menu of the desired attribute, select ​Create Enumeration​. A confirmation window opens.

3. Click ​Save​. Mapp Engage enumerates the selected attribute. The amount of time the enumeration process requires varies.

Add New Enumeration Values

1. In the ​main navigation​, click ​Administration​ > ​Attributes​. The ​Attribute Management​ window opens.

2. In the ​Actions​ menu of the desired attribute, select ​Edit Enumeration​. The ​Enumeration​ window opens.

3. To add an enumeration value, enter the value in the ​New Value​ input field and click ​Save​. The value is added to the enumeration.

Delete an Enumeration Value

1. In the ​main navigation​, click ​Administration​ > ​Attributes​. The ​Attribute Management​ window opens.

2. In the ​Actions​ menu of the desired attribute, select ​Edit Enumeration​. The ​Enumeration​ window opens.

3. To delete an enumeration value, click ​Delete​ next to the value you want to delete. The selected value is deleted from the enumeration.

This action changes an enumerated attribute into a regular attribute.

This change makes it possible to save any value in this attribute.

This action does not delete any values that are stored in the attribute.

Remove the Enumeration

1. In the ​main navigation​, click ​Administration​ > ​Attributes​. The ​Attribute Management​ window opens.

2. In the ​Actions​ menu of the desired attribute, select ​Remove Enumeration​. A confirmation window opens.

3. Click ​Save​. Mapp Engage converts the enumerated attribute into a regular attribute and sends a confirmation email. The values that were saved in the enumerated attribute remain in the system.
