# Create New Group Category

## Goal​

To create a new group category.

## Background Information​

For more information about group categories, please see [Group Categories](/v1/docs/group-categories).

## Procedure

1. In the main navigation​ menu, click *Administration​ > Categories > Group*.

⇒ The window **​Group Category Overview​**opens.
2. Click the ​**Groups**tab.
3. Click the button ​**New Group Category.**
4. In the input field ​**Name**, enter a name for the category.
5. (Optional) In the input field ​**Description**, enter a description for the category.
6. Click the ​**Save**​ button. **⇒**A system message informs you that the new category has been successfully created.
