# Deactivate an Event-Based Automation

## Goal​

To deactivate an event-based automation.

An inactive automation is never executed by the system.

## Background Information​

Deactivation changes the status of an automation to ​Deactivated​. This status indicates that an automation was manually deactivated.

## Procedure​

1. In the **​Main Navigation​,** click ​*Automation*.​ ⇒The **​Whiteboard Overview​** window opens.
2. Click the **​Event-based​** tab.
3. Select the checkbox of the automation you want to deactivate.
4. At the bottom of the window, click the **​Deactivate​** button. ⇒The automation now has the status **​Deactivated​.**
