# Edit Default System Messages

## General Information

Mapp Engage provides default system messages (text emails) for all system-related notifications. These messages can be edited to suit your requirements and reverted to their original state at any time.

#### Languages

Default messages are available in English and German. Additional languages can be added as needed. If the recipient's preferred language is unavailable, the English message is sent.

#### Customization Options

1. **Edit the default messages**:
  1. Each language must be edited separately.
  2. There is no automatic translation when changes are made to one language.
2. **Create a template**:
  - System messages created as templates are trackable.
  - Templates can be based on saved prepared messages. (See: [Create Templates for System Messages](/v1/docs/create-templates-for-system-messages))

#### Limitations

Default system messages are text-only emails that are not trackable. Templates are recommended for enhanced functionality.

## Procedure
