# Create CMS Credential for Connected Engage System

## Goal

To enable CMS access to a connected Mapp Engage system.

## Prerequisites

- You have the permission 160: System Administration: Create and Edit Credentials Records.
- You have the correct login credentials (username and password) for a user account on the Mapp Engage system that provides the content.
- You have the correct URL for the Mapp Engage system that provides the content.
- The user account on the system that provides the content has a system role which includes permissions 103: System Administration: Use API 2.0 and 223: CMS: View all CMS Messages

## Background Information

Credential store provides different ways of managing sensitive data. The user name, user password, or the entire user account can be encrypted (see [Encrypt User Data for Server Access](/v1/docs/encrypt-user-data-for-server-access)).

You can also define CMS access to an external Mapp Engage system with the Credentials function.

## Procedure

1. In the Main Navigation menu, click*User Managemenr > Permissions* *> Credentials*.
2. Click **Create**.
3. Enter a name for the record in the **Name** input field.

> The record name must be unique regardless of which type is selected. The input field accepts up to 50 alphanumeric characters. Capital letters are not allowed.
4. From the **Type** drop-down list, select **CMS Account.**

**⇒** The available options adjust to match the selection.
5. Enter the required information.
6. Click **Save**.
7. Check the **Select CMS Message** window to verify that CMS access is set up successfully.
