Insert RSS Feeds Into Email Message

Prev Next

Goal

Integrate content from an RSS feed into an email message automatically.

Background Information

RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is a standardized format for publishing frequently updated content such as blog posts, X (formerly Twitter) updates, Facebook posts, or news headlines.

Because RSS follows a standard format, Mapp Engage can easily read and incorporate RSS content into email messages. This enables dynamic inclusion of the latest blog or social network updates directly into your outgoing messages.

Procedure

  1. Open the Compose Message window of the message.

  2. Click Mapp Engage Variables to open the variables panel.

  3. From the Category drop-down menu, select Content/Attachment.

  4. Select Content Merging from the list.

  5. There are two ways to insert the RSS HTML tag into your email:

    • Drag and drop Content Merging in the email content, or

    • Move the pointer to the position in the message where you want to insert the RSS feed, then right-click and click Insert.

  6. The following HTML tag is added automatically:

    <ecm:insertcontent url="URL" encoding="UTF-8" />
  7. Replace "URL" with the actual address of your RSS feed.

  8. (Optional) If your RSS feed uses a different character encoding (e.g., for non-Latin alphabets such as Russian), replace "UTF-8" with the appropriate encoding value.

Result

When the email is sent, the content from the specified RSS feed is automatically retrieved and displayed in the message.
