Delete Group

This job was previously called: Delete Group.

This job deletes a specific group from the system. The group members lose their membership in the group. Member addresses and user profile data remain stored in the system.

What Happens When a Group Is Deleted

Deleting a group is permanent. The following data is removed:

• Group-specific data, such as group attributes and member attributes

• Group statistics and reporting data

Group members lose their membership in the group. Member addresses and contact profile data remain stored in the system.

References to the Group

The system checks where the group is used before it deletes it. Some references prevent the deletion, others are adjusted:

• Certain active scheduled message tasks prevent the deletion. In this case the job fails and the group is not deleted.

• Scheduled tasks, event rules and whiteboards that reference the group are deactivated.

• Prepared messages that reference the group are deleted.

• A campaign that belongs to the group is deleted together with the group, including its statistics, unless the campaign has been marked beforehand.

Do not delete a group whose campaigns, prepared messages or statistics you still need. Automations that use the group are switched off as part of the deletion. Check where the group is used before you schedule this job.

Use Case​

This job is often used to modify automations that have been created via the API. For example, API calls are used to automate group creation in the system. The automations created by the API are visible in the interface in the ​Time-based Automations Overview​ window. This job can be used to modify these automations.
