    Article summary

30 April 2025 We’ve introduced a new level of flexibility for reports. Whether you're protecting important reports, accelerating the creation of reporting templates, collaborating across different accounts, or saving hours of manual work, the new Export & Import feature empowers you to work more efficiently. Now, you can download the complete configuration for any report, make changes as you like, and upload it wherever needed!

    Key Benefits

    • Safeguarding: Save critical reports offline to prevent accidental deletion or unwanted modifications, a frequent pain point many of you have shared with us. Your valuable work is protected and easily shareable whenever needed.

    • Easy Sharing: Reports can now be imported into any account, whether it’s under your login or it belongs to an external partner. This removes the previous restriction of copying only within the same login and streamlines collaboration between agencies, clients, and business units.

    • Templates: Agencies and teams can create standardized templates in one account, export them, and distribute them easily to clients or partner accounts — either by sending the file or importing directly if access is available. This dramatically speeds up onboarding and ensures a consistent reporting experience.

    • Configurability: You can adjust filters, metrics, and other parameters directly in the exported JSON file to tailor reports to specific target accounts before importing. This enables pre-filled correct values, avoids manual rework, and allows you to create various report versions with minimal effort.

    • Share your Customizations: All custom elements — including custom metrics, formulas, segments, and time filters — are bundled in the exported file. If they don’t already exist in the target account, they will be automatically created during import, preserving the full structure and functionality of your reports.

    How does it work?

The process includes first exporting the chosen report from the source account and then importing it into the target account or accounts.

    Exporting

    1. Select one or more Reports.

    2. Click the Export icon.

User interface showing report options, including create, download, and edit functionalities.

    3. You will receive a confirmation window, click confirm.

    4. The file created will always be a zip file. What is exported depends on which view mode you’re using in the Report Overview: Folder or List.

      1. If the folder view is active, the report will be exported with the respective folder.

      2. Only the report will be exported if the list view is activated.

    5. Once the export is completed, the file will be automatically downloaded. You can edit the JSON file and use it as the basis for new reports or templates.

    Edit the JSON File (Optional)

You can open the JSON file in a text editor to create new versions of your report or prepare it as a template for others. This allows you to:

    • Change the time range, e.g., from static dates to dynamic values like last_28_days

    • Adjust filters, metrics, or dimensions

    • Reuse and customize a report setup for different target audiences or business contexts

For example, you can duplicate a performance report and adjust its filters or segmentation to match a different region, business unit, or customer group.

Importing to one or more target accounts.

Only one report at a time can be imported.

    1. Prepare your file; it must be in a JSON format. If you are importing a file you previously exported and didn’t edit, you must first extract the JSON file from the ZIP.

    2. Click on the import icon.
Interface showing options to create and manage reports with highlighted upload button.

    3. Place the file into the upload area via drag and drop, or add it by browsing and selecting.

    4. Based on your permissions, you can select copy Within this account or Into other accounts.

If you want to import a report into several accounts, you don't need to switch accounts and import the report several times. After selecting Into other accounts, just select multiple accounts. This is great if you have a template you created that you now want to disseminate to colleagues or partners.

    5. After selecting the account or accounts, click Next.

    6. When the import process is complete, you can apply and adjust any settings as needed. ^

    Availability

This feature was released April 30th. It is automatically available in your account.
