Mobile Activity Criteria

Prev Next

Mobile Activity criteria allow you to create segments based on how contacts interact with your mobile app(s) and how they respond to Push and In-App messages.

These criteria evaluate app installation status, tracked in-app events, message delivery, and message reactions.

Mobile Activity criteria are commonly used for mobile follow-up and re-targeting scenarios based on delivery, engagement, or in-app behavior.

App Installation Date

Allows you to segment contacts based on whether a contact has installed and registered a mobile app, and how long ago the installation occurred.

This criterion evaluates installation status and installation recency. It does not reflect how often or how recently a contact used the app. Typical use cases include identifying contacts with outdated app installations or distinguishing installed from non-installed users.

Settings

Setting

Description

Mobile App

Defines which mobile app the installation status refers to. This is required when multiple apps are available.

Installed

Specifies whether contacts who have installed and registered the selected app (Yes) or have not installed it (No) are evaluated.

In Timeframe

Restricts the evaluation to a defined period. The timeframe is evaluated relative to the segment run date and determines how recent or outdated an app installation must be.

App Event

Use this criterion to segment contacts based on whether they triggered a specific event in a mobile app.

Note

The available app events are defined during In-App Message creation and are based on events registered via the mobile registerAppEvents API. Only events that are tracked and available in the system can be evaluated.

Settings

Setting

Description

Mobile App

Selects the mobile app associated with the event.

App Event

Selects a specific triggering event that was defined during In-App Message creation.

Occurred

  • Yes: The contact has triggered the event in the app.

  • No: The contact has not triggered the event in the app.

Number Of Occurrences

Defines the required event count using an operator and a numeric value. The value can range from 0 to 999.

In Timeframe

Restricts evaluation to a defined period.

Push Notification Delivered

Use this criterion to segment contacts based on whether they received a push notification or not.

It evaluates delivery status for any push notification or for a specific push notification within a timeframe.

Settings

Setting

Description

Push Notification

  • Any: evaluates delivery for any push notification, independent of the mobile app.

  • Specific: evaluates delivery for a specific push notification and requires selecting both a mobile app and a message.

Mobile App

Specifies the mobile app the push notification belongs to (required when Push Notification is set to Specific).

Message

Specifies the push notification message (required when Push Notification is set to Specific).

Delivered

  • Yes: the contact has received the defined push notification (any or specific).

  • No: the contact has not received the defined push notification.

In Timeframe

Restricts evaluation to a defined period.

Push Notification Reaction

Use this criterion to segment contacts based on whether they engaged with a push notification or dismissed it. It evaluates the contact’s reaction to a specific push notification within a timeframe.

The Reaction criterion represents a summarized engagement signal. Engaged includes opens and interactions such as link or button clicks.

Reaction-based criteria are typically used to identify contacts for mobile follow-up communication.

Settings

Setting

Description

Mobile App

Selects the mobile app related to the push notification.

Message

Specifies the push notification.

Reaction

  • Engaged: The contact opened the push notification or clicked on a link or button within it.

  • Dismissed: The contact closed or swiped the push notification.

In Timeframe

Restricts evaluation to a defined period.

In-App Message Delivered

Use this criterion to segment contacts based on whether they received an In-App message or not.

It evaluates delivery for any In-App message or for a restricted app/message selection within a timeframe.

Settings

Setting

Description

App

  • Any: Selects any In-App message independent of mobile app channel.

  • Specific: Restricts evaluation to a specific mobile app and (optionally) specific In-App messages.

Mobile App

Selects the specific mobile app (relevant only when App is set to Specific).

In-App Message

  • Any: Selects any In-App message related to the selected mobile app.

  • Specific: Restricts evaluation to a specific In-App message.

Message

Allows you to select the specific In-App message (relevant only when In-App Message is set to Specific).

In-App Delivered

  • Yes: The contact has received the In-App message (any or as defined by the restrictions).

  • No: The contact has not received the defined In-App message.

In Timeframe

Restricts evaluation to a defined period.

In-App Message Reaction

Use this criterion to segment contacts based on whether they engaged with an In-App message or dismissed it. It evaluates the contact’s reaction to an In-App message within a timeframe.

Push Notifications and In-App Messages are evaluated separately, as they are delivered and interacted with in different contexts.

Reaction-based criteria are typically used to identify contacts for mobile follow-up communication.
