# Pause or Resume an Email Sendout

### Goal

Temporarily stop an active email sendout and continue it later if needed.

> 
> Once the message has been handed off to the delivery server, it cannot be interrupted.

### Prerequisites

- The message sendout must have already started.
- You must have permission to manage message sendouts.

### Procedures

#### Pause a Sendout

1. In the main navigation, click *Messages > Outbox*.
2. In the **Processed Messages**window, locate the message you want to pause.
3. In the **Actions** column, click **Pause**.
  - The message status changes from **Processing** to **Paused**.
  - The sendout stops after the current work package is completed.

#### Resume a Sendout

1. In the main navigation, click *Messages > Outbox*.
2. In the **Processed Messages Overview** window, locate the paused message.
3. In the **Actions** column, click **Resume**.
  - The message status changes from **Paused** to **Processing**.
  - The sendout continues from where it was paused.

### Result

The sendout is temporarily interrupted and can be resumed at any time. When resumed, Mapp Engage continues the sendout from the point where it was paused.
