Mapp Engage uses permissions to manage who can view, create, edit, or delete different types of content within the Content Management System (CMS). Each content type has specific permissions, allowing teams to work efficiently and securely based on their roles.
1. Core CMS Elements
The CMS in Mapp Engage is based on four main elements:
Frameworks – Define the structure of email templates (layout, metadata)
Blocks – Reusable content elements (e.g., headers, footers, text-image blocks)
Email Templates – Combine frameworks and blocks to provide consistent layouts
Email Messages – Finalized content created from a template and sent to contacts
Each of these elements has four possible permission levels:
Use – View and select existing items
Create – Add new items
Edit – Modify existing items
Delete – Remove items from the system
2. Permission Overview (Simplified)
Element | Use | Create | Edit | Delete |
---|---|---|---|---|
Frameworks | ✅ | ✅ | ✅ | ✅ |
Blocks | ✅ | ✅ | ✅ | ✅ |
Email Templates | ✅ | ✅ | ✅ | ✅ |
Email Messages | ✅ | ✅ | ✅ | ✅ |
Additional permissions include:
Assign – Assign CMS items to another user
View All – View all CMS items, even those not assigned to you
Permissions are assigned per user role. If something is missing from your view, it may be due to missing permissions.
3. Typical Role Setups
Here are common permission configurations based on team roles:
Email Developer
Full access to frameworks and blocks
Full access to templates and messages
Permission to use forms
Email Marketing Manager
Use frameworks and blocks
Full access to templates and messages
Permission to use forms
Content Creator
Use frameworks, blocks, forms, and templates
Full access to messages only
4. Troubleshooting Access Issues
If you’re unable to:
See or use a template
Edit a block
Create or delete a message
…it is likely due to missing permissions. Please contact your system administrator or check your assigned role.
Tip
Most marketers only need full permissions for messages and access to approved templates and blocks. Structural changes (HTML, layout, design) should be managed by developers or admins.
