Goal
Reactivate one or more deactivated contacts within a specific group in Mapp Engage—either individually or by response category—with the option to apply changes system-wide.
Background Information
When a contact is deactivated in a group, Mapp Engage automatically deactivates that contact system-wide.
This serves as a safeguard to prevent messages from being sent to invalid or problematic addresses. For more details about how deactivation works, including triggers and automation rules, refer to the Deactivation Basics page.
Prerequisites
You must have permission to manage contacts in the relevant group.
System-wide reactivation may require additional system-level permissions. If you do not see this option, contact your administrator.
Procedure
You can reactivate contacts in two ways:
Single contact
All contacts with the same response category (e.g., Transient, Blocked, Spam Complaint)
Steps
Go to Audience > Deactivated.
Select the desired Group from the drop-down list.
Choose a reactivation method:
Single Contact: In the Actions column, click the
icon to open the Deactivated Contacts window. Locate the contact and click Reactivate.
Response Category: In the Deactivation Summary view, find the relevant category and click Reactivate. (Only available if contacts exist in that category.)
Confirm the group-level reactivation.
In the confirmation dialog, you can optionally select System-wide reactivation.
This applies only to contacts already in the selected group and does not allow bulk reactivation across all groups.

FAQ
What’s the difference between reactivating a single contact and a response category?
Reactivating a single contact affects only that individual. Reactivating a response category restores all contacts in the group who were deactivated for the same reason.
Can I reactivate a contact system-wide from this view?
Yes—but only for contacts that are part of the selected group. To fully manage system-wide deactivated contacts, use the dedicated process described in System-Wide Reactivation.
