Redirect Links After an Email Sendout

Goal

Change the destination of links in an email after the message has already been sent. Use link redirection to fix broken links or update destinations without resending the email.


Prerequisites

Link tracking must be activated for the message in your Mapp Engage system.


Background Information

Mapp Engage tracks clicks by redirecting each link through its system before sending recipients to their final destination.
This redirection enables you to update a link’s destination after the email has been sent. While the system handles the redirect, the visible link text in the email cannot be changed.

Link changes take effect immediately. Alternatively, you can schedule a time when all links will redirect to a specific destination. For more details, see Timed Link Redirection.


Procedure

  1. Go to Messages > Outbox > Email.

  2. Next to the relevant message, click Edit Links.

  3. In the Actions column, click Redirect link.

  4. In the New URL input field, enter the new destination. Example:

Result / Outcome

The selected link’s destination is updated. Recipients who click the link are redirected to the new URL, but the displayed address in the email remains unchanged.
