# Remove Group Category

## Goal​

To remove a group category from an Engage group.

## Background Information​

Group categories are assigned to groups in Engage to make organizing different types of groups easier. Only one category can be assigned to a group at any time.

## Procedure

1. In the main navigation​ menu, click *Audience > Groups*.
2. Edit the group to which a category should be assigned by clicking on ![](https://cdn.document360.io/554b9b98-6720-4d8b-9919-c7b203d72648/Images/Documentation/e7a6a1ef-e008-4ba5-bc18-f523f2576057.png) in the column ​**Actions**. ⇒ The ​**General Settings**tab opens.
3. From the drop-down list **​Group Category**, select the item ​**--unset--**​.
4. Click the ​**Save**button. ⇒ The category is removed from the group.
