# Identify Contacts Who Installed a Specific App

## Goal​

Create a selection rule to identify contacts who have installed a specific app.

## Procedures

### 1 Segmentation Builder (recommended)

1. Navigate to *Audience > Segmentation > Segmentation Builder* and create a new segment.
2. From the *Mobile Activity* section in the *Add New Criteria* panel, drag and drop the criterion **App Installation Date** onto the canvas.
3. Configure the criterion:
  - Select the mobile app from the drop-down
  - Installed: Yes
  - In Timeframe: define the date or date range
4. Click **Apply**.
5. Save and publish the segment.

### 2 Selections (obsolete)

> [!NOTE]
> Please note that Selections are an obsolete feature, and Mapp recommends that you switch to the Segmentation Builder instead.

1. Navigate to *Audience > Segmentation > Selection*.
2. Click **Create**.
3. Enter a **Name** for the selection.
  - The name must be unique and clearly indicate the selection’s purpose.
4. In the **Data Selection** area, select the **Profile** radio button.
5. From the **Attribute** drop-down, choose one of the following:
  - `appid_100`: Shows the date when the contact downloaded the app.
  - `appid_100_opt_in_devices`: Lists all devices on which the contact has enabled push notifications for the app.

> Note: The number after the underscore (`_`) identifies the specific app.
6. Click **Create**.
7. In the **Condition** area, select the “is not empty” operator from the drop-down.
8. Click **Save**.

The selection can now be used for Sendouts, Automations, CMS actions, and Group-based contact transfers.
