Fallback Redirection for Unavailable Landing Pages in Mapp Engage

Prev Next

Mapp Engage lets you configure redirects for landing pages that are no longer active. This ensures that users who follow an outdated link are forwarded to a relevant fallback page instead of encountering an error.

Two types of redirects can be configured by users directly:

  • to another landing page

  • to an external website

An optional global redirect can also be defined, but only by Mapp on request.

Redirect settings are configured during Step 3: Publish in the landing page creation process. For details, see 3. Publish.

1. Redirecting to a Specific Website

You can define that a landing page should redirect visitors to a custom external URL (e.g., your company homepage) when the original page is no longer available.

The redirect is triggered when the original page:

  • is automatically deactivated at a scheduled time, or

  • is manually deactivated by a user

It stops when the page is republished or permanently deleted.

2. Redirecting to Another Landing Page

Instead of an external URL, you can redirect visitors to another landing page within your Engage environment.

Special cases:

  • If the target landing page is also deactivated and has no redirect, visitors will see an error message.

  • If the target page has its own redirect, visitors will be forwarded again (multi-level redirect).

  • If the target page has been permanently deleted, visitors will also see an error message.

3. Global Redirection (Optional Feature)

If no specific redirect is defined for a deactivated or deleted landing page, a global fallback can be applied – for example, redirecting to your company homepage.

Key facts:

  • This feature must be enabled for your system by Mapp.

  • To activate it, contact your Customer Success Manager.

  • Once active, it applies when:

    • the original landing page has been deleted, or

    • a redirect target is deactivated or missing.
