# Step 1: Creating Recommendation Parameters

To use Recommendation Tracking, you must first create three predefined E-Commerce parameters in your Mapp Intelligence account. These parameters carry the widget context (placement, product position, algorithm) that is later used in analysis. A fourth parameter for outfit recommendations is optional.

After creation, the parameters are automatically filled by the Recommendation Tracking extension when recommended products are loaded, become viewable, or are clicked.

Once the parameters have been activated, they must be configured for the tracking function. This is done in Mapp Q3 under *Configuration > Custom Parameters > E-Commerce Parameters.*

## Required predefined parameters

| Parameter ID | Description | Type | Example for value |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| 765 | Placement of the reco widget | text (multi-value) | Shows where the widget appeared. For example, the homepage, PDP, and checkout. |
| 766 | Product position in the reco widget | number (multi-value) | The position of the product within the widget |
| 767 | Algorithm of the reco widget | text (multi-value) | Indicates which algorithm generated the recommendation. For example, trending items, similar items, and outfits. |

## Optional parameter for Mapp Fashion outfits

If you track outfit recommendations and pass `data.occasion`, the extension sends the occasion as an additional E-Commerce parameter. Create it the same way as the required parameters if you want to analyze it.
