# System Whiteboards

## Introduction

System whiteboards allow you to automate operational tasks in Mapp Engage. They are based on *Scheduled* or *Recurring* whiteboards and are used to run system-level processes, such as importing contacts or generating reports. This helps reduce manual workload and ensures important data operations run consistently.

## Common Use Cases

- **Automated data imports**: Import contacts or other data on a recurring schedule.
- **Regular reporting**: Generate reports or exports at fixed intervals.
- **Maintenance tasks**: Automatically delete groups or remove contacts in batches.

## Creating a System Whiteboard

When creating a new whiteboard, select **Scheduled** or **Recurring**, then activate the **Create system whiteboard** toggle.

The configuration includes:

- **Whiteboard Name**: The name displayed in the system.
- **Description** (optional): Additional context about the whiteboard’s purpose.
- **Tag(s)**: Labels used for organization or filtering.
