Troubleshooting – No Tracking Data Visible

Prev Next

If your iOS SDK integration appears correct but no data shows up in Mapp Intelligence, this page helps you identify common issues and verify your setup. The items are grouped to guide you through the most likely causes first.

1. Configuration & Implementation Issues

These are the most frequent root causes. Always check them first:

  • Incorrect Track ID or Track Domain

Ensure that the trackIDs and trackDomain match your Mapp Intelligence account credentials. If either is incorrect, tracking requests will not be attributed to your account and will not be visible.

  • SDK Not Properly Initialized

Confirm that the SDK is initialized early in the app lifecycle – typically in your AppDelegate inside application(_:didFinishLaunchingWithOptions:) – and that no tracking methods are called before initialization.

  • Auto-Tracking Disabled but No Manual Tracking Used

If auto-tracking is turned off, ensure you manually track screen views or user events. The SDK does not throw errors if tracking is inactive.

  • Consent Not Granted (If Applicable)

If your app uses a consent management platform, ensure that the user has granted consent before tracking starts. The SDK does not indicate blocked tracking due to missing consent.

2. Technical & Environmental Factors

These conditions may prevent the SDK from collecting or sending tracking data:

  • No Internet Connection

The SDK buffers tracking data when offline. It sends the data once the device is online again.

  • Logging Not Enabled

Set logLevel = .all to observe SDK behavior in the Xcode console. This helps determine if tracking events are being collected and queued.

  • Batch or Interval Settings Too High

Use moderate values for requestInterval and batchSupportSize during testing. High values can delay transmission unnecessarily.

  • App Not in Foreground and Background Sending Disabled

Tracking data is sent when the app is open or running in the background, but background sending must be explicitly enabled via enableBackgroundSendout = true. This may also require Apple’s approval.

3. Reporting & Visibility Limitations

Even if tracking is working, data may not show up immediately:

  • Standard Reports Update Hourly

Mapp Intelligence standard reports are updated every 60 minutes. If you’ve just sent tracking data, allow time for it to appear.

  • Use Live Analytics for Immediate Results

If available in your account, the Live Analytics View provides near real-time data visibility.
