The contact receives no further emails from the system unless he is again added to a group. The address and profile data are not deleted. Group-specific data (member attributes and group membership statistics) are deleted. A group owner who is also a member of the group can be unsubscribed and still retain ownership of the group. Group managers, deactivated recipients, and members (any status) can all be unsubscribed. > Hint: > > An unsubscribe is recorded in the group statsitics. The ​Define Job​ area defines whether confirmation messages are sent to each unsubscribed member. This is the system message ​SysMsgUnsubscribeFromGroup​. > > As an alternative, you can remove members from groups. Removing members does not affect the group statistics, and no confirmation messages are sent. See [​Remove Member From All Groups (C)​](/v1/docs/remove-member-from-group-c). > Hint: > > The designation **(C)** means contact-related. In general, you only combine **contact (C) events** with **contact (C) jobs**. For more information, see[Contact (C) vs. System (S) Automations](/v1/docs/contact-c-vs-system-s-automations). ## Recommended Automations​ An automation is a combination of an event plus a resulting job. The following combinations are recommended. It is possible to create other combinations, as well, but not all combinations of events and jobs result in meaningful system behavior. - **Unsubscribed from Group (C) + Unsubscribe Member from All Groups (C):** This combination unsubscribes a contact from all groups in the system when he unsubscribes from any group in the system. For this combination, check ​Use Event Parameter​ for the field ​Contact​. The message to which the unsubscribe is attributed must be selected manually. - **Message Link Clicked (C) + Unsubscribe Members from All Groups (C):** This combination unsubscribes a contact from all groups in the system when he clicks on a link in a message. For this combination, check ​Use Event Parameter​ for the following fields: ​Contact​ and ​Message​. The unsubscribe is attributed to the message in which the link was clicked. ## **General** | ​Name​ | Displays the name of the automation that is defined in the **​Edit Event**​ window. | | --- | --- | | ​Description​ | Displays the description of the automation that is defined in the ​**Edit Event**​ window. | | ​Event​ | Displays the event that is defined in the ​**Edit Event​** window. Every time this event occurs, Engage executes the dependent job. | | ​Job​ | Defines the job. Engage executes this job automatically every time the event occurs. For a list of all available jobs, see [​All Available Event-Based Jobs​](/v1/docs/all-available-event-based-jobs). | ## Define Job​ This area defines the specific parameters of the job. - **Contact:** This input field defines the contact who is unsubscribed. Use the ![](https://cdn.document360.io/554b9b98-6720-4d8b-9919-c7b203d72648/Images/Documentation/1c8d29d6-8f32-4814-a2f7-7cd66a165e12.png) symbol to select one contact. - **Use Event Parameter:** When selected, this checkbox selects the same contact that was involved in the event and uses him for the job. - **Message:** This drop-down field defines a message. This is the message to which the unsubscribe is attributed in the statistics. - **Send Confirmation:** This drop-down field defines whether the contact receives a confirmation email. This is the system message ​SysMsgUnsubscribeFromGroup​. Recipients receive one confirmation email for each unsubscribe. - **Ignore Owners:** These fields define whether a member with the ​Owner​ group role is also unsubscribed from the group. This action does not change the system user set as the owner of the group. - **Yes:** A member with the ​Owner​ group role that matches the selection criteria is not unsubscribed. Notification is sent to the owner of the automation. - **No:** A member with the ​Owner​ group role that matches the selection criteria is unsubscribed. Notification is not sent. ## **Define Delay​** **In this area, you can define a time delay between the event and the resulting job. If you define a delay, the system waits the specified amount of time after the event takes place before executing the event-based job. If you do not define a delay, the system executes the job immediately after the event takes place.** > Hint: > > Engage calculates the selection for an event-based job when the job is executed, not when the event takes place. When Engage registers the event, the system executes the job immediately. - **​Yes:** ​Creates a delay between the event and the resulting job. **​Unit:​** Defines the unit of time with which Engage calculates the delay. **​Value:​** Defines the duration of the delay. ## **Actions** The following actions are available: - ​Time Frame:​ Saves your changes and opens the ​[Define Time Frame window​](/v1/docs/define-time-frame-window). - ​Edit Event:​ Opens the ​[​Edit Event window​](/v1/docs/edit-event-window).
