    Uploading a Message or Message Parts

    Goal

    Upload an email or a part of an email that was created using an external tool into Mapp Engage for sendout.

    Background Information

    You can prepare full or partial message content externally and import it into Mapp Engage. The Upload Message Part window supports the following content types:

    • Message Parts:

      • HTML section of an email

      • Plain text section of an email

    • Email Message: Multi-part MIME email file (.eml)

    • CMS Message: an email from an external system

    Procedures

    Upload Message Parts

    1. Go to:

      • Create New > Message > Email Message > HTML Email, or

      • Messages > Draft Messages > Email > Edit, or

      • Messages > Prepared Messages > Email > Edit

    2. Follow the email creation process until you reach Step 2 - Content.

    3. Click Upload Message.

    4. In the Upload section, select Message Parts.

    5. To upload HTML and plain text message parts separately:

      • Select the Message Parts option.

      • In the HTML area, click Browse and select the HTML file.

      • In the Plain Text area, click Browse and select the plain text file.

    6. From the Character Encoding drop-down, select the appropriate character set for the uploaded files.

    7. Click Import.

    8. Choose one of the following:

      • Click Update Draft to save your email.

      • Click Prepare Sendout to start or schedule the sendout.

    Upload Email Message

    1. Go to Create New > Message > Email Message > HTML Message

    2. Follow the email creation process until you reach Step 2 - Content.

    3. Click Upload Message.

    4. In the Upload section, select Email Message.

    5. Click Choose File and select the file (usually with the .eml extension).

      The file must follow the standard MIME message format (RFC-822). It can include HTML and text parts, inline images, and attachments.

    6. From the Character Encoding drop-down, select the appropriate character set for the uploaded files.

    7. Click Import.

    8. Choose one of the following:

      • Click Update Draft to save your email.

      • Click Prepare Sendout to start or schedule the sendout.

    Important Notes

    • Uploading a message part or CMS message will overwrite all existing content in the message editor. To preserve current content, create a new message.

    • When both HTML and plain text versions are uploaded, Mapp Engage sends both. The recipient’s email client will display the version based on their preferences.
