# Visitors - Technology - Cookie

**When tracking websites, cookies are often used to identify users. The cookie analysis shows whether the web browser accepts first-party cookies.**

> If no cookies are accepted, Mapp Intelligence is using a [fingerprint method](/v1/docs/does-mapp-intelligence-use-a-fingerprint-method) to identify users.

If a lot of users don't accept cookies using [anonymous tracking](/v1/docs/what-is-anonymized-aka-cookieless-tracking) could be an option to improve visitor recognition.

## Deleted Cookies

Cookies can also be deleted. For example, automatically when the browser is closed. This setting cannot be recorded with Mapp Intelligence.
