    Article summary

    Goal

To add a contact to the system blacklist.

    Prerequisites

Your system role has the permission: 203 Contact Management: Edit system blacklist.

    WARNING!

When a contact is placed on a system blacklist, all contact profile data is deleted

    Background Information

A system-wide blacklist applies to all groups in the Mapp Engage system.

You can add the following entries to a system blacklist:

    • Email addresses.

    • Mobile phone numbers.

    • Domains.

When you add a contact to the system blacklist:

    • The contact is deleted from the entire system. All address data, profile data, subscription data, and message data are deleted.

    • The contact receives no messages from any Mapp Engage group.

    • The contact cannot subscribe or re-subscribe to any Mapp Engage group.

    • The contact cannot receive any messages that are forwarded to them by other message recipients.

    • The contact is skipped (not imported) during import in any Mapp Engage group

    Hint:

If you regularly add contacts to the blacklist with an automated import, contact your customer representative

    Procedure

There are three ways to add contacts or domains to the system blacklist:

    1. Import a List of Contacts or Domains

    2. Manually Add One or More Contacts or Domains

    3. Manually Add Single Contacts

Import a List of Contacts or Domains

    1. In the Main Navigation, click Contacts > Blacklist.

    2. Select the System Blacklist tab.

    3. Click the Import button.
⇒The Import System Blacklist window opens.

    4. Click the Browse button and select the file with entries to be added to the blacklist.

    5. From the File Type drop-down list, select Text or XML. For the structure of the blacklist file, see Blacklist Import Files.

    6. From the Character Set drop-down list, select the character set used in the blacklist file. The character set determines correct display of the characters in the system.

    7. From the Import Mode drop-down list, select the appropriate mode. Add - The entries are added to the blacklist. These contacts can no longer subscribe to any group. The addresses cannot be imported into any group, either.

      • Replace - The entries in the file replace the existing blacklist. This file contains all email addresses, numbers, and domains on the blacklist. All existing blacklist entries are lost.

      • Delete - The phone numbers, email addresses, and domains in the file are deleted from the blacklist. These contacts can re-subscribe to any group. The addresses can also be imported into a group.

    8. Click the Import button.
⇒The import starts automatically. You are informed of the status of the import by email.

Manually Add One or More Contacts or Domains

    5. Click the Save button.
⇒A status message informs you that the entry or entries are added to the blacklist. You are informed of the status of the import by email.

    Manually Add Single Contacts
