A cookie is unique for each device and browser. If [User Centric Tracking](/v1/docs/user-centric-tracking-1-an-introduction) is deactivated, the metrics "Browsers, Unique" and "Visitors" are the same. Depending on the analysis, a browser is counted once or once per time interval (e.g. day, week, month). ## Information on Cookie based Tracking If a users accesses a website, a cookie with an ID is set. Based on this cookie the users is recognized in future accesses. In case the user deletes the cookies or uses different devices/browsers, a new cookie is set and the user is counted as new "Browsers, Unique". ## Similar Figures [Visitors](/v1/docs/metrics-visitors) [Visits](/v1/docs/metrics-visits) ## Further Information Training document [Basic Metrics](/v1/docs/analyses-2-basic-metrics)
