Copy a Group

Goal
To create a group that is based on the configurations of an existing group.
Prerequisites
The access to the feature depends on the permissions of your role.
Background Information
The copy function applies most of the settings of the original group to the new group.
Some information is not copied as it is unique to the source group:
Email: The email address must be unique in Engage. The email address must not contain any accented characters.
Members of the group: When you copy a group, members of the original group are not transferred.
Group messages: Messages that are sent with the original group are not associated with or copied to the new group.
Creation date: The creation date of the new group is the date when it was copied.
Group ID: Every group in Engage has its own internal ID. When you copy a group, a new group ID is assigned.
Group statistics: Group and message statistics for the original group are not copied to the new group.
Inbound mobile ID: If the group is used to send SMS messages, the keyword or numeric code that is used for inbound SMS is not copied. It is not possible for two groups to use the same inbound mobile ID.
Procedure
In the Main Navigation, click Audience > Group Management > Groups.
Click Group Roles.
⇒ The Group Roles window opens.In the Name input field, enter the name of the new group.
The name is used for group administration in Engage. The maximum length is 150 characters.In the Email input field, enter an email address for the new group.
The email address must be unique in Engage.
The email address must not contain any accented characters.
The local part of the email address has a maximum length of 40 characters
To set the owner of the original group as the owner of the new group, select the Keep Owner option. Group-specific permissions that are assigned to this role in the original group are copied to the new group.
To assign yourself as the owner of the new group, deselect the Keep Owner option.To add the owner to the group as a member, select the Add Owner as Member option.
To add group members with special roles to the new group, select the Copy Members with Special Roles.
The following roles are special roles:Manager.
Customized Group Role 1–8.
Message Statistics Viewer.
This option is only available when you select the Add Owner as Member option.
Click the Copy button.
⇒ The group is created.
The following settings are copied to the new group:
Group category
Country
Language
Reply handling
Deactivation handling
Notifications
Tracking and links
Sendout options
Group-specific system messages
Test recipients
Group and member attributes
Blacklist entries
