They use the same frameworks and blocks as your CMS email messages, so your pages match the look of your emails. You can use a microsite as a general web page, as a subscription form, or as an unsubscribe page. > [!NOTE] > Note > > To write the HTML of a page yourself, use [Landing Pages](/v1/docs/engage-syste-basics-content-landing-pages). You build them with the code editor or the graphical HTML editor. Landing pages can also expire on a set date and redirect visitors after deactivation. --- ## Microsite Types You cannot change the type of a microsite after you create it. - **General**: A standard web page, for example for campaign content. - **Subscribe**: Contacts use a form on the page to subscribe to a subscription group. - **Unsubscribe**: Contacts unsubscribe from a subscription group. Each subscription group can have only one unsubscribe microsite. --- ## Before You Start To build a microsite, you need the following: - A microsite framework. The framework defines the layout of the page. See [Compose Framework (CMS)](/v1/docs/compose-framework-window). - At least one form block. You drag the block onto the page when you build the microsite. - For subscribe and unsubscribe microsites: a subscription group. - For unsubscribe microsites: the link parameters `uid` and `gid` in the **Tracking & Links** settings of the group. They give each recipient a unique unsubscribe link. - The required permissions. For details, see [Microsite Permissions](/v1/docs/microsite-permissions). --- ## Publishing and URL Each microsite has a path. The path is the unique part of the microsite URL. You use this URL, for example, in your email messages. A microsite has one of the following statuses: **Active**, **Inactive**, **Draft**, or **Scheduled**. You can activate a microsite right away or schedule its publication for a later date.
