      Scenario​

      Increase the effectiveness of your birthday message by sending a reminder to contacts who didn't click on the original message. You send the reminder 7 days after the contact's birthday.

      Purpose​

      • Increase the effectiveness of your birthday messages.

      • Set your offer apart from competitors' birthday messages.

      • Generate additional sales.

      How It Works​

      A selection selects contacts whose birthday was 7 days ago and who haven't clicked on the birthday email. A time-based automation sends the message to the selection every day at the same time.

      Before You Start​

      Create a whiteboard with a birthday sendout. See Send Birthday Message​.

      In this scenario, you will add another job to the same whiteboard.

      Procedure​

      This procedure has three parts.

      A) Create the prepared message.

      B) Create a selection that selects contacts whose birthday was 7 days ago and who have not clicked on the birthday email.

      C) Create a time-based automation for daily sendout.

      A) Create the Message​

      ​BirthdayReminderEmail​

      Save the message in the system as a prepared message.

      For more information, see Save Draft as Prepared Message​.

      B) Create a New Selection​

      In the ​Recipients​ > ​Selection​ area, create a new selection with the following two conditions. Combine the conditions with ​and​.





      Condition 1

      Basis for Condition: ​Message​

      Group: (Birthday sendout group)

      Message: ​Prepared Message​. Then select the birthday message.

      Click ​Add​

      Status: ​Link clicked, No, Any link ​

      Condition 2

      Basis for Condition = ​Profile​

      Attribute = ​Date of Birth​

      Click ​Add​

      Match = ​Selection run date (without year), exactly before, 7 days​

      C) Add Reminder to the Birthday Whiteboard​

      1. In the ​Main Navigation​, click ​Automation​.

      2. Open the whiteboard that contains your birthday sendout.

      3. Drag a second ​Time-based Job​ module onto the whiteboard.

      4. Drag and drop between the   symbols to connect the modules as shown above.

      5. Define the module settings as follows:

        Time-based Job

        Field

        Entry

        This module performs daily message sendout to a selection of contacts.

        Name

        Enter a name for the module.

        Job

        ​Send Prepared Message to Selection.​

        Message

        Select the message you created above.

        Selection

        Select the selection you created above.

      6. Click ​Next​.

      7. Define the desired time frame and notifications.

      8. Click ​Activate​ to immediately activate the whiteboard. Only active whiteboards are executed by the system.

        ⇒ The whiteboard is saved and activated. The automation has the status ​Running​ if the start date is immediate and ​Scheduled​ if the start date is in the future.

      Hint:

      Gain insight into the performance of your message in the ​Statistics​ area. All of the reminders are evaluated together as a single message. This allows you to see at one glance how your birthday reminders are performing. See Message Statistics (window)​.
