Setup has three parts: create an approvers list, assign it to the group, and make sure that authors do not have send permission. For how moderation works, see [Message Moderation](/v1/docs/message-moderation). --- ## Prerequisites - To create and edit approvers lists: Approvers List: Create (2310) and Approvers List: Edit (2311), plus System Administration: View All System Users (2001) or View and Edit All System Users (2000). - To assign a list to a group: Group Administration: Edit group settings (402) for the group and Approvers List: Use (2309). - Every approver has a system user account. --- ## Create an Approvers List 1. Go to *User Management > System Users > Approvers Lists*. 2. Click **Create**. 3. In **Name**, enter a name for the list. 4. Click **Add**, search for the system users who should approve messages, and click **Select**. 5. Save the list. --- ## Assign the Approvers List to a Group 1. Go to *Audience > Group Management > Groups*. 2. Open the group you want to edit. 3. Click the **Sendout Options** tab. 4. From **Message Moderation**, select the approvers list. 5. Optional: To prevent authors from approving their own messages, select **Four-eyes principle required**. 6. Click **Save**. --- ## Remove the Send Permission from Authors Only authors without send permission in the group need approval. Authors with send permission still send directly. For the moderated group, remove these group permissions from the group roles of your authors: - Email: Messaging: Send email messages (601) - SMS: Messaging: Send SMS messages (701) To change the permissions of a group role for this group only, see [Assign Group-Specific Permissions](/v1/docs/change-group-specific-permissions). To change them for all groups, see [Assign General Group Permissions](/v1/docs/change-general-group-permissions). > [!WARNING] > Warning > > Users can also get group permissions from their system role on the **Group (Override)** tab. If an author has send permission there, the author still sends without approval. Also make sure that authors cannot edit the group settings. With permissions 402 and 2309, they could remove the approvers list from the group. From now on, messages that authors without send permission create for this group get the status **Moderated**, and all members of the approvers list receive an approval request. To approve or reject these messages, see [Approve or Reject Messages](/v1/docs/moderate-messages). ## Related - [Approve or Reject Messages](/moderate-messages.md)
