When GDPR mode is enabled:

  • No tracking occurs until the page visitor consents.

  • No Mapp-related cookies are set before consent.

To ensure compliance:

  1. Use the setting under Shopify Admin > Online Store > Preferences to manage tracking consent.

  2. The Mapp Cloud script will not execute until a cookie named trackingconsent is set with a value like this:

  3. The encoded value of this object is:

You can use your own consent tool to set this cookie. Alternatively, the Shopify app Custom Privacy Banner can handle consent and start tracking after the visitor accepts the banner.
