Test Multiple Email Message Variants (A/B Test)

Goal

Compare the performance of multiple variants of an email message through a split sendout.

Procedures

Create a Split Sendout

1. In the Messages > Draft Messages > Email navigation path, open the draft email overview.

2. Select at least two draft email messages by clicking the checkbox next to each message.

3. Click the Split Sendout button at the bottom of the overview window.

4. From the Group drop-down list, select the group for the split sendout.

5. In the Split Distribution area, define how the split sendout will be distributed. Each group member receives only one variant.

6. From the Time Zone drop-down list, select the appropriate time zone.

7. In the Split Sendout area, select when the split sendout should occur:

   • Immediately: Starts when you click Send Message.

   • Schedule: Starts at a specific date and time. Click the calendar icon to select it. (If the group settings define different start times, Mapp Engage will delay the sendout accordingly. See Sendout Options.)

8. In the Main Sendout Starts area, choose how to send the most successful variant to the rest of the group:

   • Automatically: Sends the best-performing message automatically after at least 24 hours.

   • Manually: Review the variant statistics, select a variant, and manually send it. (For details, see Manually Start Main Sendout.)

9. In the Advanced Options area (optional):

   • Selection: Limit the split sendout to a specific subset of the group.

   • Show selection plan preview: View selection details including name, contact count, last calculated date, and selection criteria summary.

   • Best sendout time: Optimize based on previous open and click behavior. (See Best Sendout Time.)

Review Test Messages and Schedule Sendout

1. To review the split messages for the final sendout, click the ​Check Split Message​ button.

2. From the ​Split Message​ drop-down list, select which message is displayed as a preview.

3. To adjust the sendout settings, click the ​Split Settings​ button.

4. To start the split sendout, click ​Send Message​. The split sendout is sent immediately or at the specified date and time.
