Goal
To unsubscribe contacts from a Mapp Engage group when they send an incoming SMS to the group.
Background Information
With this setup:
Every inbound SMS to the group results in an unsubscribe.
The replies are not filtered for certain words.
The unsubscribe is recorded in the group statistics.
Mapp Engage sends unsubscribe instructions to the mobile number that sent the reply. The instructions are included in the system message SysMsgUnsubscribeInstructions.
The message contains an unsubscribe code and a link to a webpage. The recipient must enter the code on the webpage to unsubscribe.
Each SMS group only has one reply handling setting. If you use the method described here, you cannot allow contacts to subscribe directly to this Mapp Engage group. You must import SMS contacts into Mapp Engage with a file.
Prerequisites
SMS messaging is an extra feature of Mapp Engage. Before you can send SMS messages, you must do the following.
Work with your account manager to register the necessary codes and keywords for SMS messaging. For more information, see SMS Code Types.
Create one or more dedicated groups for SMS sendout. For instructions, see Create a New Group.
In the group settings, define the inbound mobile ID, outbound mobile ID, and reply handling. For instructions, see Define the Inbound Mobile ID.
