Permissions

Permission Management in Mapp Engage defines what users can see and do within the platform – both through the user interface and API. Instead of assigning permissions directly to users, Engage uses a combination of roles, permission scopes, and credential records to manage access securely and efficiently.

This area is divided into six sections:

  • Group (General) – Set baseline permissions across all groups

  • Group (Specific) – Fine-tune access at the individual group level

  • Group (Override) – Apply exceptions using system-wide roles

  • System – Control access to administration and platform-wide features

  • Contact & Guest – Manage access to contact data and guest users

  • Credentials – Store and reuse encrypted access data for external systems

By assigning well-scoped permissions and managing sensitive data securely, you ensure structured, compliant, and transparent workflows across your teams.

Why use structured permission management?

  • Assign access based on team responsibilities and system roles

  • Protect contact data and technical settings through clear boundaries

  • Simplify audits and ensure compliance with traceable access logic

  • Prevent errors through restricted editing and export rights

  • Use encrypted credentials for secure external integrations
