The Visit % shows the percentage distribution of visits within any given analysis. This metric helps visualize how frequently specific dimensions—such as pages, campaigns, devices, or other categories—are visited within a selected period. It’s particularly useful for understanding the relative share of visits that each dimension receives among the total visits in the analysis.
Example Calculation:
Suppose only the pages “Home” and “Search” are tracked. Here’s an example to illustrate how Visit % is calculated:
Pages | Visits | Visits % |
---|---|---|
Home | 1 | 50 % |
Search | 1 | 50 % |
This table shows that “Home” and “Search” each received 50% of the visits in this subset.
Using Visit % in a Time Series
When using Visit % in a Time Series analysis, it’s important to understand that the metric is based on the subset of visits that included at least one of the specified pages (e.g., “Home” or “Search”). The Visit % values represent the share of each page within this subset and do not sum to 100%, as they reflect the distribution across only the included pages.
Here’s how this looks in a daily breakdown:
Days | Total Visits (Home or Search) | Visits (Home) | Visits (Search) | Visit % (Home) | Visit % (Search) |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Day 1 | 8 | 2 | 3 | 25 % | 37,5 % |
Day 2 | 5 | 1 | 2 | 20 % | 40 % |
Day 3 | 6 | 3 | 1 | 50 % | 16,7 % |
Note: This table includes additional columns like “Total Visits (Home or Search)” and individual visit counts for “Home” and “Search” to illustrate the calculation process.
