Add Entries to System Blacklist

Goal

Add email addresses, mobile numbers, or domains to the system-wide blacklist in Mapp Engage.

⚠️ Warning:
When a contact is placed on a system blacklist, all contact profile data is deleted


Prerequisites

Your system role must have the following permission: 203 Contact Management: Edit system blacklist


Procedure

You can add entries to the system blacklist in one of the following ways:

1. Import Entries via File

Use this method if you want to upload multiple entries from a prepared file.

  1. Go to Audience > Blacklist > System Blacklist

  2. Click Import.

  3. Select your file and configure the import settings:

    • File Type: Text or XML

    • List Type: Clear-text or MD5

    • Character Set: e.g., UTF-8

    • Import Mode:

      • Add – Append entries to the existing blacklist

      • Replace – Overwrite the entire blacklist with your file

      • Delete – Remove specified entries from the blacklist

  4. Click Import.

The logged-in user who performs the import will receive a confirmation email with the import status.


2. Manually Add Entries

Use this method to add individual entries directly via the UI (e.g., via copy & paste).

  1. Go to Audience > Blacklist > System Blacklist

  2. Click Create.

  3. Select the List Type: Clear-text or MD5.

  4. Enter one or more entries, each on a separate line:

    • Email

    • Mobile Number

    • Domain

  5. Click Save.

A success message will confirm that the entries have been added to the system blacklist.


3. Blacklist a Contact from the Contact Overview

Use this method to blacklist an existing contact from the contact list.

  1. Go to Audience > Contact Management > All Contacts.

  2. Search for the contact you want to blacklist.

  3. Expand the context menu next to the contact and click Blacklist.

  4. Review or adjust the Email, Mobile Number, or Mobile App Alias.

  5. Click Add to System Blacklist.

The selected contact will be added to the system blacklist.
