    Article summary

Deactivation automatically prevents contacts from receiving any messages through Mapp Engage across all channels.

It is triggered when a contact generates a certain number of email responses (e.g. bounces). Deactivated contacts are excluded from all future communication unless they are manually reactivated. Unlike blacklisting, deactivation is automatic and based on deliverability criteria, not manual input.

    Why use deactivation?

    • Protect sender reputation and IP quality

    • Reduce bounces and improve deliverability

    • Automatically suppress problematic contacts

    • Avoid sending to invalid or unreachable addresses

    Note

Deactivation is system-wide by default — one trigger in one group affects all groups. You can customize this behavior in group settings.
