Overview
This example shows how to differentiate email audiences based on country and language to meet legal and localization requirements. It applies to segmentation using standard profile attributes in Mapp Engage.
Country and language are evaluated together to ensure that contacts receive the correct version of a message.
Example setup
A marketer sends emails to contacts in multiple countries and needs to ensure that each contact receives content that matches local legal requirements and language expectations.
Instead of using a single message for all recipients, the setup segments contacts by country and language. This allows different email versions to be created and applied to the appropriate audience at sendout.
The following screenshot shows a finished segment using country and language conditions.

Steps
Create a segment using Contact Profile > Profile Attribute.
Select ISO Country Code(s) and choose the required country.
Add ISO Language Code(s) and select the required language.
Use the segment to apply the correct email version at sendout.
Notes
ISO Country Code(s) and ISO Language Code(s) are standard profile attributes and do not require custom attribute setup.
Country and language are commonly combined to select the correct legal and language-specific version of a message.
Country and language do not always reflect a contact’s preferred communication language (for example, a contact may live in Germany but prefer English).
If available, an explicitly captured language preference stored in a custom attribute should be used as the primary selector; ISO values can serve as a fallback.
