Assign Link Categories for messages manually
Link categories can be assigned manually or automatically. Manual assignment is especially useful if the skills needed to adapt the Regex expressions are absent, or links are only categorized for certain messages.
This function can also be used to check links that were automatically assigned before sendout.
Automatic assignment of link categories is preferable if there are large numbers of links in the messages (see Automatic Assignment of Link Categories).
Manually Assign Link Categories
After creating a message, the message editor can manually assign link categories. The link categories button in the Compose Message window opens the Assign Link Categories window (see Assign Link Categories (window).
This window displays all of the links that are contained in the message and provides drop-down lists for assigning link categories. In a purely manual assignment, the first time the window is opened, all of the link categories are empty.
The associated link categories are determined and displayed if automatic assignments exist in the system. Manual assignment of a link category is lost when the message is saved as a draft.
Automatic vs. Manual Assignment
If both manual and automatic assignment functions are used, the manual assignment overrides the automatic assignment. The OK button saves the manual assignments and closes the window. Once the window for assigning link categories is closed, the automatic assignment of categories no longer affects the message. The manually adjusted link categories remain unchanged even if adjustments are made to the Regex used to define automatic assignments
For more information, see Assign Link Categories (window).
