3 September 2026 Derived Attributes extend Mapp Fashion's enriched product attributes with context: the trend, style aesthetic, climate, or wardrobe role a product belongs to. Enriched attributes describe what a product physically is. Derived Attributes describe what it means to a shopper.
Key Benefits
Scales without relabelling: once a product is enriched, it's automatically classified against every trend rule, including new ones your stylists define.
Stays current: trends are curated continuously, so classification tracks the season rather than a fixed taxonomy.
Matches how shoppers think: filter and personalize by occasion, mood, and aesthetic, not just physical attributes.
Where You'll Encounter Derived Attributes
Catalog exports and the Product Catalog API, alongside your enriched attributes, as ordinary attributes
Engage, in attribute-rich email and push content, and in trend-based conditions for segments and workflows
Intelligence, as reporting dimensions and filters, to see which trends drive revenue and engagement
Fashion recommendations, where trend and style context feed personalized recommendations
External integrations such as Shopify metafields and Google Product Feed
How does it work?
Mapp's fashion stylists label each product with enriched attributes based on the source attributes you send us, and define the rules behind Derived Attributes. Every enriched product is then evaluated against those rules automatically, so no extra labelling is needed for this layer.
Each derived attribute category becomes its own attribute in your Product Catalog, named fashion_derived_{category} (for example fashion_derived_climate or fashion_derived_style-aesthetic), plus a combined fashion_derived_values attribute with all values across categories. Both work like any other enriched attribute and support multiple values per product. Derived Attributes are synchronized into the Product Catalog once per day, so changes can take up to a day to appear.
Also in this release: three new optional attributes, category_1, category_2, and category_3, are now available for nested category views in predefined Mapp Intelligence dashboards and pivot tables.
