Sender Profiles: Overview

Overview

The Sender Profiles tab provides access to all sender profiles configured for the system. Sender profiles define the level of transport layer security (TLS) applied to outgoing email messages and are available to all system users.

Sender profiles influence how messages are transmitted and can affect deliverability depending on the configured TLS requirements.

Information

Column

Description

Actions

Opens the sender profile in view mode.

Name

Displays the name of the sender profile.

Description

Displays the optional description entered for the sender profile.

Type

Indicates whether the sender profile is a default profile or a custom profile created by a system user.

TLS Mode

Indicates how Transport Layer Security is applied to outgoing messages.

  • forced: Messages are sent only using the configured TLS level. If the recipient does not support this TLS level, delivery may fail, which can reduce deliverability.

  • opportunistic: Messages are sent using encrypted transport when supported by the recipient. If encrypted transport is rejected, the system falls back to unencrypted delivery.

TLS Protocols

Displays the TLS protocol versions configured for the sender profile. These protocols define which TLS versions are allowed during message transmission.

Certificate

Indicates whether a certificate is assigned to the sender profile. If no custom certificate is selected, Mapp Engage uses the default certificates provided by Mozilla.

Ciphers

Indicates whether specific cipher settings are applied to the message transmission. Cipher configuration controls which encryption algorithms are used during TLS negotiation.

Created date

Displays the date the sender profile was created.

Last updated date

Displays the date the sender profile was last updated.

Behavior and Scope

  • Sender profiles apply to the transmission security of outgoing email messages.

  • Profiles with higher TLS requirements can reduce deliverability for recipients who do not support the configured security level.

  • Sender profiles created here are available to all system users.

  • If no sender profile is selected during email sendout configuration, the system uses a default “null” transport value.

  • The “null” transport value appears as “-” in the Choose Sendout Profile list during sendout configuration.

  • If no sender profile is selected and no “null” transport is configured, messages are sent using unencrypted transport.

  • Configuration of the “null” transport requires assistance from a Customer Success Manager.
