Voucher Setup

Prev Next

This page gives you a high-level overview of how to import, manage, and use vouchers in Mapp Engage. It outlines the basic steps and concepts. For detailed guidance on specific tasks, please refer to the How-To guides in this section.

1. Where do vouchers come from?

Voucher codes are typically generated in external systems, such as:

  • your online shop

  • a CRM

  • or through manual generation

The codes are uploaded into Mapp Engage using a coupon list.

2. What types of vouchers are supported?

There are two types of vouchers in Mapp Engage:

  • Coupons

Alphanumeric codes, like XMAS20 or unique generated tokens.

    Used for online redemptions.

  • Barcodes

    Scannable images generated from codes.

    Used in offline/retail settings.

3. How voucher assignment works

During message sendout:

  • A placeholder is inserted into the message

  • Engage replaces the placeholder with a unique code

  • If the placeholder appears multiple times, the same code is shown

  • If not enough codes are available, you can:

    • Show alternative text

    • Or pause the sendout

4. Setup steps

A. Create a coupon list

  • Prepare your codes (TXT or CSV) and create a new list under Content > Voucher Manager > Coupons

B. Import your codes

  • Upload the file via the list’s import option.

  • Choose format, encoding, and separator as needed.

C. Generate barcodes (optional)

  • Create barcodes under Content > Voucher Manager > Barcodes

  • You can generate barcodes based on different data sources, depending on your use case.

    • Coupon list: Use this option if each recipient should receive a unique, trackable value.

    • Custom attribute: Use this option if the barcode should represent an existing identifier, such as a membership or customer ID stored in the contact profile.

    • Manual input: Use this option if the same barcode value should be used for all recipients, for example for a general in-store promotion.

  • Once created, the barcodes are stored and can be reused across messages.

  • Use Engage Variables or Content Elements to insert the barcode into your message.

D. Add voucher to a message

  • Use the Engage Variable to insert a coupon or barcode.

  • Barcodes can also be added as content elements.
