User Management Overview

Prev Next

User management in Mapp Intelligence allows administrators to control which users can access the platform and what actions they are allowed to perform.

Access rights are managed through a combination of users, roles, categories, and filters. By configuring these elements, administrators can define which products, analyses, reports, and data are visible to specific users.

Core Elements of User Management

User permissions in Mapp Intelligence are structured around four main components.

Component

Description

Users

Individual accounts created for each person accessing the platform.

Roles

Define permissions such as product access, analysis access, and report rights.

Categories

Control access to reports and help organize them by topic or team.

Filters

Apply permanent filters to analyses and reports for specific users.

These components work together to determine the permissions of each user.

Users

A user represents an individual login to Mapp Intelligence.

When creating a user, administrators define basic information such as:

  • First and last name

  • Login name

  • Email address

  • Language

  • Number format

  • Password settings

Users themselves do not define permissions. Instead, permissions are assigned through roles.

A user can be assigned to one or multiple roles, allowing flexible access management.

Roles

Roles are the central element for managing permissions.

Roles define what users can access and modify within Mapp Intelligence. They can control:

  • Product access (for example access to Mapp Intelligence)

  • Account access

  • Analysis visibility in the navigation

  • Report permissions

  • Access to metrics and dimensions

If a user is assigned to multiple roles, the permissions from all roles are combined.

Categories

Categories are used to organize reports and control access to them.

Reports can be assigned to categories when they are created. Users can only view or modify reports in categories that are assigned to their roles.

Reports that are not assigned to a category remain private reports. These are visible only to:

  • the user who created the report

  • users with full report access

Filters

Filters allow administrators to apply permanent data restrictions for specific users.

A filter can automatically restrict analyses and reports to certain data sets, such as:

  • specific channels

  • regions

  • campaigns

Filters are assigned per account, and each user can have one filter per account.

How Permissions Work Together

Permissions in Mapp Intelligence are determined by combining the configuration of users, roles, categories, and filters.

A typical setup follows these steps:

  1. Create users for each person who needs access.

  2. Define roles that describe different permission levels.

  3. Assign users to the appropriate roles.

  4. Use categories to control report access.

  5. Optionally apply filters to restrict visible data.

This structure allows administrators to configure access rights for different teams, responsibilities, and data requirements.
